Supervisor meeting diary: 09/05/13

Like the previous meeting this was another group meeting for any last meetings.

however i did have a few questions about submissions.

I also had another student to read my dissertation along with the obvious stuff their doesnt seem to be too much to worry about so i think i was just being overly worried, and since my honours project is so close to being complete i think i have more than enough time to up the word count and sort out some of the literature review.

so yeah a short post but i guess thats because everythings coming to an end.

Supervisor meeting diary: 11/04/13

This was a different meeting from the usual, as it was a group meeting with other 4th year students and ryan discussing our dissertations. next week meetings will be back to normal and I shall back to having an agenda written out but for this week I didnt think we had too since the agenda was already decided.

Anyways,

Ryan selected Laura to be the unlucky one to read my dissertation. however it sounded from the feedback she gave at the end that it isnt going as bad as i thought in my head (despite the lack of a few things like a case study) she seemed to understand what my dissertation was talking about which was a relief. so thanks laura.

So basically i have been getting my head down on my case study.. i started one earlier on in the year but my aim may have changed to much to make it relevant anymore so im adapting/rewriting that and my critical framework (thankfully my framework was going down the same road as my aim so it shouldnt be to hard to alter) to coincide with the change of the aim.

however i feel unsure what to exactly talk about with my case study got so far as 356 words and have hit a brick wall. =/

Supervisor Meeting Diary: 28/03/13

Hello,

So on thursday i had another meeting with ryan to discuss my project, and how i am going to present my timeline.

After further discussion it came to the decision that i should pick how i want to do it (using what i showed in a previous post) and just go for it... he liked the fact i was sketching but was worried that they had nothing to do with my project really, however he felt better when i explained that i was doing it to try get my overall drawing technique back up to scratch so that my pixel art will benefit greatly.

So I only have one action point for this week,

Prototype/concept of timeline... Ryan wants to see how the transition between styles will be shown

and thats it so time to get my head down and do work

Supervisor meeting diary: 21/03/13

Hello,

So on thursday i had another meeting with my supervisor,

We discussed my presentation mainly the fact that the aim will need to change to fit the project, so my aim was:

"Does pixel art bring more to games other than the percieved nostalgic value"

so i feel like its changing towards something more like,

"Explore the aesthetic characteristics of different pixel art eras and showcase each method in some sort of pixel art"

so my agreed action points are

1. stop being lazy: this is probably my biggest problem right now, due to illnesses my immune system seems to have vanished recently as just as i recover for one thing a new illness appears. however like what ryan was saying to me at the meeting that even though they are legit excuses i cant keep letting them hold me back.
2. Research timelines how have they been done and what can i learn from them - dtyle presentation

rather boring timelines if you ask me but still a good starting point that i will look into.

Supervisor Meeting Diary: 07/03/13

Hello,

Another week and another meeting with my supervisor,

Today was a far more upbeat meeting than my last, i feel i was more confident in what i was saying which i think reassured Ryan.

My previous post was on my 3 project ideas, showcase being the one i went through with mentioning to Ryan.

We came to the consensus that the Showcase would be a good idea but that i needed to find a better way to show it, we discussed possible more meaningful ways of portraying this showcase,

A Timeline of pixel art era: the birth death and resurgance

This sounded like a cool idea of showing the value of pixel art as it has grown older, the idea is that the timeline wont be of year or time but instead the styles of pixel art when they are introduced,

sort of like the evolution of man timeline image:

• Show what we learned to the panel in crit presentation next week

Supervisor Meeting Diary: 28/02/13

Hello,

So been a busy week for me after recovering from the cold, i have also became deaf in my left ear and it hurts from time to time. Also celebrated my 23rd birthday party on tuesday so that was fun and pretty hectic.

But now things have settled down and the realistation of hand ins has came crashing down on me and now i am in a state of panic.

YAAAYYY!!!

But,

Today I had a meeting with Ryan which was good, we talked about my results and what i was planning to do for my final project.

We came to the conclusion that the reason why I am struggling so much is that I am still not sure what i am doing.

so here is my meeting agenda:

• presentation ( since we couldnt meet up the week after my presentation and i had some questions to ask about it i wanted to discuss things then )
• Semester 1 results: damaged my motivation and im struggling to inspire myself to do work

after discussing the agenda we came up with a few but very important things for me to do,

1. Get an idea for the final project
2. Conceptualise that idea to show to Ryan  on 07/04/13
3. Tell Ryan, Why are you doing the project and how are you going to do it

Also as a side project i keep laying it off but i MUST make a start on this dissertation by the end of this week i plan to have it blocked out at least
